I liked the way they played with the curves of the type in the hair.. its a very simple idea, but well executed..

Phil Wheeler "Power"

One of my favourite illustrations.. the attentiont to detail in it is very high..

"POWER “The brief for this cover design for the Network World (US) Power issue was to suggest the inner strength that drives the big players in the network industry, hence the result – an interesting buddhist/corporate/ network crossover.” Computer Arts

Phil Wheeler "Bright Lights"

Tom O'Malley "Life & Death"

This illustration takes a metaphorical look at human life and death and its fickle relationship to the precious life of a flower.

DURRAT AL BAHRAIN (PEARL OF BAHRAIN)

Set out to be a model city resort of life as it should be in the 21st century. The character and design of Durrat Al Bahrain will reflect the highest quality of design principles and will set a new standard for urban development.

This 20sq.km. seaside city resort, located on the south coast of Bahrain, will include 13 different islands with over 2,000 villas, more than 3,000 apartments, luxury hotels, restaurants, promenades, shopping centres, spas, a planned marina, and a proposed golf course among its many sports facilities. Plans for ongoing development will evolve according to the city's needs and wants.

A sizeable 400-boat marina is planned. Set in a separate magnificent lagoon it will tempt many a sailor and water sports enthusiast to enjoy the full benefits of the deep blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. Cafes and marine support services will round it out into an independent sea-side enclave.

The outermost edge of the resort city of Durrat Al Bahrain consists of an arc of six Island Atolls with open sea views. Residents can expect a fabulous lifestyle in state-of-the-art homes offering uninterrupted views of the sea. Communities of private villas will have either open sea frontage, some with moorings or golden beaches which slope down to the sea. The Atolls are connected to the mainland via stunning bridges which pass through the Petal Islands and then the Crescent Island.

Five Petal Islands are set as the inner ring of islands, closer to the mainland shore than the Atolls. They are joined by a continuous circular bridge which leads to the Crescent Island. The design of the Petal Islands ensures privacy from one sophisticated villa to the next. Most villas boast long water frontages and many have their own mooring facilities. Later phases will include parkland style villas set back slightly from the sea.

The Crescent will be the heart of Durrat Al Bahrain. There will be approximately 3,600 luxurious Crescent Island and Grand Canal Apartments built in a series of stunning, stat of the art apartment buildings. The Crescent Island will contain the community essentials including educational facilities, a mosque, civic services and shopping facilities. A series of restaurants and cafes is also envisaged with all the support facilities needed in a development of this scale. It will also have a series of beaches facing the central lagoon enabling a mix of residential, commercial and leisure based lifestyle.

The Witch of Portobello

I recently read a book called the Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho, the brazillian author.. Other than the book being genius, i think the cover is a real piece of art! you will understand it better once you've read it.. the designer wanted to merge the two ideas (witchcraft and dancing) in the same picture.. thus coming up with this weird pose for the cover.. striking!
