This is a great peice of ambient media. Placing a miniature iceberg model on the campus of a university in Denmark, students would walk past day by day watching the ice melting. I think this is a very good idea, very realistic and persuasive too.

DIESEL - Packaging

I really liked the packaging for the new Diesel "Fuel For Life" Bottle. The cloth cover really gives it a presence, and an urban feel to it.. And the way it is stitched on one side, and the zipper on the other go very well with the tone of voice of the product. All in all i think this a new, creative and successful way of packaging perfume bottles!

Working on my D&AD brief, I couldn't help taking a couple of minutes off to take a shot of the scene that was out my window.. I loved the orange colours of the sky behind the bare trees. the contrast of colours is very high since orange is the only colour other than shades of black and grey.

I came across this hand soap bottle design which I really liked, simply because of its shape. It looks like a tear or a drop of water which relates perfectly with the liquidy soap it contains.. simple, pleasing to the eye, good design.

The picture below is a poster for the "Blind Owl" typography exhibition. I liked the poster because of its calligraphic qualities, the use of type in it is very interesting, creating the face. the stains next to mouth are also striking.

This other image is pure calligraphy and was done by an iranian graphic designer.

Very good concept of using the bubble paper on the ad. Gives a more real feeling to it, and makes the people walking by want to get close and try to pop it!

Roller Girls Posters Design

I dont know who the North Star Roller Girls are, but these ads make me want to find out. I really like the way they are put together, from typography & photography, to colour use & illustyrations.
Very good art direction, they look like very exciting pieces of work! and most of all, the elements go well with each other, they look like one great design! If I were to choose my favorite out of these 4 it would have to be the "Blood Type" poster, because of its presence. the colours and illustration give it so much life, its hard to ignore!

Not the best ambient advert i've seen, but delivers the message in a clear way, which is the most important thing.

This one on the other hand I think is extremely well designed, very strong concept, and perfect execution.. No wonder after this 2006 campaign all smart fortwo were sold out!

Zoo-Aquarium Berlin Ambient Advert

As the Caption states, the Zoo-Aquarium in Berlin decided to advertise at the international pole-vault-meeting near Berlin.
With a shark on the mat, it really gives the viewers a sense of excitment, and possibly would also make them want to visit the nearby zoo. Most importantly it gives spectacular press shots for the media!
This is proof that the possibilities and locations for ambient ads are unlimited. just be creative.

Like anyone else I'm very inspired by almost all the absolute vodka adverts. They just have such a simplicity to them, but the photography and execution of the concpet is always very well done. These 2 images are part of the ads where they dont show the bottle, but use different objects and artifacts to create the shape opf the absolute bottle. When a product is recognized from its shape you know its successful..

If you click on Steve Bronstein in Labels, you wil find 2 more photographs that have inspired me. The ones where the woman and man are throwing drink into each others faces..

Copying Beethoven

I recently watched a movie called "Copying Beethoven". It talks about the great composer, and how he spent his days trying to compose his 9th symphony while deaf. With the help of a young lady he finds himself and finds the music again!
The cinematography is incredible, I particularly liked the shooting during the symphony sequence, specially the last 10 seconds when they focus on his face, you can feel the emotions pouring out.. Everyone should watch it, its very artistic, and deep..

Here are some great shots taken by the great photographer Steve Bronstein. Whoever is into photography would know him from the Absolut Vodka campaign advertisments that he has been shooting since 1978. his website is well worth a look at!

Steve joined a cooperate of professional photographers such as Howard Berman, Carlo Van de Roer, Sally Gall, & Julia Kuskin to creat the group b-hive.

When i first saw these 2 pictures i was shocked! you do not come upon shots of this quality very often.. the idea is great, the woman is throwing her martini glass into the mans face, while the man in the first shot throws his whisky into the womans face. clever execution, and very interesting exploration of the high shutter speed world.

Notice how the yellow is cleverly cut from the white and placed at the opposite side to creat this very original and innovative Ying Yang sign.

I really liked this advertising campaign for the braun cruzer in Japan.. the use of ambient media is well chosen for the target market.. they chose very famous japanese characters and placed there beards on a mirror so that when someone looks into the mirror, they can see what they would look like if they would have a beard. in a way its encouraging people to grow beardsso that they would have to buy the razor.. good idea, different way of trying to sell the product.. i particularly liked the sligan they used under the mirror, it says " Its not about what you take off, its what you leave on, that is what makes your mark!" all in all nice concept and execution.. there could be endless possibilities to the advertisment, because wherever you travel around the world you will find different people with beards that the average male relates to.. so it could be a long lasting campaign, similar to the absolut vodka run...

I really like that way the logo for the magazine is created, the way the S is curved, the way the U and R are joined, and the cut in the G at the end.. all these alterations make the logo more lively. gives it a fresh and young vibe!

Set out to be a model city resort of life as it should be in the 21st century. The character and design of Durrat Al Bahrain will reflect the highest quality of design principles and will set a new standard for urban development.

This 20sq.km. seaside city resort, located on the south coast of Bahrain, will include 13 different islands with over 2,000 villas, more than 3,000 apartments, luxury hotels, restaurants, promenades, shopping centres, spas, a planned marina, and a proposed golf course among its many sports facilities. Plans for ongoing development will evolve according to the city's needs and wants.

A sizeable 400-boat marina is planned. Set in a separate magnificent lagoon it will tempt many a sailor and water sports enthusiast to enjoy the full benefits of the deep blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. Cafes and marine support services will round it out into an independent sea-side enclave.

The outermost edge of the resort city of Durrat Al Bahrain consists of an arc of six Island Atolls with open sea views. Residents can expect a fabulous lifestyle in state-of-the-art homes offering uninterrupted views of the sea. Communities of private villas will have either open sea frontage, some with moorings or golden beaches which slope down to the sea. The Crescent Island will contain the community essentials including educational facilities, a mosque, civic services and shopping facilities. A series of restaurants and cafes is also envisaged with all the support facilities needed in a development of this scale. It will also have a series of beaches facing the central lagoon enabling a mix of residential, commercial and leisure based lifestyle.

I recently read a book called the Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho, the brazillian author.. Other than the book being genius, i think the cover is a real piece of art! you will understand it better once you've read it.. the designer wanted to merge the two ideas (witchcraft and dancing) in the same picture.. thus coming up with this weird pose for the cover.. striking!
